He always felt out of place, different than others and having bad luck stuck to his feet. His older brother Iskandar was their parent's centre of attention which left him feeling lonely and invisible. Like he's not enough. He really wanted to hate his brother for this but Iskandar was the only person that really paid attention to him. The only person that really cared for him. Iskandar always protected him, played with him, simply always stood by his side, while Zeke followed him around like a lovesick and clumsy puppy. He fancied him, envied how strong he was and crawled into his bed whenever he was haunted by bad dreams. He was a quiet and fragile kid with growing brother complex. Then came the letter, throwing this sensitive pipsqueak into a new huge world that had him clinging to Iskandar's side tighter than before. However, he was also hoping. He felt like he got a new chance to find where he belongs and make some friends. His brother's friends weren't the best choice, he found out soon. Eventually though, he managed to find a female and bubbly companion who helped him with studies as much as possible. He was clumsy, shy, his magic was weak, making Zeke struggle in classes greatly. Basically all of his grades were barely average apart from Marine Animals & Forest Beasts, where he always excelled. As if this wasn't already enough for him, his classmates and older students started to pick up on him, tormenting his already grey days. He felt even more out of place and lonely than before. Before he became a stupid wizard. He didn't like this gift at all, he hated it. He hated everything and everyone except Iskandar. Then his brother went missing. It was before Zeke's sixth year, when Iskandar graduated and their father took him to a hunting trip. They never returned that Holidays and Ezekiel almost didn't attend another year at school. His grades dropped even lower, the boy was barely hanging in the school. He became more distant and introverted and pushed away everyone who at least tolerated spending time with him. He spoke rudely to anyone who stepped closer than he liked, making others dislike him even more. At least he wasn't bullied anymore, being one of the oldest students in Koldovstoretz at that time. His magic was due to his mental state even weaker than was usual for him which only made the boy want to snap his wand in half and leave. He wanted to forget about ever being magically gifted. He planned to go back to a non-magical life in a non-magical world and live normally after graduating. Muggle life might not have been perfect but it was lot less of a hell for him. When Christmas during his seventh year came around though, Zeke was given a miracle. His brother, breathing and alive, showed up at the door of their house. Ezekiel wouldn't ever admit it but he cried, when he saw Iskandar before him. It was one of the best things that ever happened to him. For a while, his world had brightened, became better. But this all came to a stop, when a full moon came around and a horrific creature barged into their house. His mother was killed without mercy that night and Zeke almost ended up the same. If it wasn't for the solid and sharp object his hand brushed against as he was pulled, he might haven't survived. The night was full of moments that were a pure luck on his side which gave him the opportunity to see sun again. Zeke was able to escape the creature by using the sharp object, hitting the wolf into head with everything he had. He half-ran and half-crawled into another room and locked himself there and blocked the door with other things. He snuggled into a corner then and waited, weak and wounded. The smell of blood provoked the creature, it banged on the door the whole night, little by little until it was able to get inside. For Zeke it was hell. Longest minutes of his life before, even though it was just a few minutes, the sun slid inside the room and the creature above him started to change and shrink, shape into something else. Someone else. Zeke was terrified before but it was nothing compared to the second he recognized the person. He never felt so hurt and betrayed in his whole life like in that moment. Iskandar had always been his safe heaven, someone he could trust and give his life to. Someone who would never hurt him. In one painful moment everything he believed was shattered to pieces. Zeke was shocked to find out his brother did all this to him. He assumed his father probably didn't come back for the same reason. He didn't let the other touch him, didn't want him to, he was terrified of him. His brother seemed to be weak though and Ezekiel found himself standing on his feet and heading for his room to pack his things. He ignored everything else in the house, his stomach doing dangerous flips, and left, despite his wounds and the fact he himself was really weak and exhausted. Of course, it didn't take him long till he blacked out. It was another pure luck on his part that a young healer found him there and treated his wounds. At that time though, Zeke wished to die instead as he found out what had became of him. The Wolf: When Zeke was turned, it was a real curse for him at first. He was frightened by the realization that he was going to transform into such rabid animal once a month, every full moon. He was seeing the creature as a monster. He tried to find somewhere to stay, went from city to city, muggle or not, but everywhere he felt like he was being watched. He felt like everyone could tell upon looking at him. Like everyone was judging him. Him, the freak of nature. Zeke desperately tried to find a place to stay. Find himself a job but eventually he was always fired, or he left from fear of really being discovered after a night of full moon, when his jaws got color by red. He also came to despise people a bit for their prejudice against what they feared, which later made him leave the civilization completely. He withdrew into deep forests and stayed there. Alone, he was finally able to focus solely on himself. He was able to calm down and think. He was able to get to know his own being and this curse. His wolf. What he hated, he came to love in the end. The bite opened him another way to different corner of this world, where the boy finally found himself. The longer he lived with the wolf the more he became comfortable in his own skin. The more he learned how to coordinate his body and use the abilities, like better senses of the wolf, to his advantage. He came to love the night, when he could transform, and run around the dark forest, no problems on his mind. He came to love nature and wild. He came to understand his wolf, took it as himself. Zeke grew stronger and more independent. From a fragile boy became a brave wild man. His hurt turned into bitterness, loneliness and the feeling of betrayal into anger. He spent out of cities years before he was driven away by Werewolf hunter that found him. He came back to civilization but has a hard time blending in. Sometimes, when he's not careful he acts more as an animal rather than wizard. He doesn't know how to act, when he talks to people, and to say the truth he would rather not to have to talk to them. He's still very reserved and quiet. He doesn't trust people. Being himself, not taming his wolf, being free doesn't mean he's a monster like many believe. Previous experience proved him that majority say about Werewolves to be dangerous bloodthirsty things that are too dangerous or not as high standing as others. He got to feel what fear of Werewolves in people can do to his kind. He got burnt and learned not to get close to the fire. Despite holding back, keeping himself isolated, Zeke is still, just as wolves are, sociable creature that likes the presence of others. He wants friends and physical contact, he's quite needy and hungry for it, had always been. Sadly, Zeke is also easily hurt, which usually makes him bare his teeth instead of trying to act civilized which burns down any possible opportunities on making friends. He has serious problems with anger. Those bottled up feelings from years, hurt, unfairness with which he met as werewolf had made him not only bitter but also moody and quite aggressive. He is led by his primary instincts, survival ones, that tell him to fight or attack where's a threat. He puts his everything into what he does, never does anything half-assed but leaves what doesn't have any purpose. He is very judging, quick to jump into conclusions, and serious. His humor is quite morbid and dark, if it could even be called like that. A smile is rather rare thing for the Werewolf. Zeke has strong sense of loyalty and sticks to people he cares about and trusts. He would give up his life for them, to protect theirs. Even if he's hurt by a person he cares about, he can't help but still feel responsible for their safety and wouldn't be able to hurt them any seriously. His wolf is very moody just as Zeke himself is. Black fur, smaller but sturdy body that gives advantage in speed, sharp canines and claws. Eyes burning ember with flecks of blue that show a humane intelligence. He has a great memory for scents. Some provoke the animal, bring out the beast, some though can make the wolf act calm, a bit domestically. The wolf respects familiar scents as it knows they don't mean harm. Being around though, is still like walking on a minefield. One wrong or suspicious move and it ends. ~ it is a reminder that these clenched jaws ~After my last application, I though the next time I would sent one will be for the same character, Zeus Tolyniev, and his deformed curse with some edits I needed to do. Instead I ended up going for an "ordinary" werewolf with a completely different nature, in their core. As far as I can compare these two, the only thing they share is that these two men are both Russian and have some wolfish characteristic features. Ezekiel is a Werewolf who embraces his wolf, while Zeus was supposed to fear it and fight it. He was supposed to suffer and live in concern of him hurting the people he loves. But as I sat down to edit his application I somehow couldn't bring myself to do it. I felt like something wasn't right there. I didn't have a single good idea how to fit his differences into werewolf's body so it wouldn't be too abnormal and non-werewolf. How to explain why I didn't want a normal werewolf. I even considered just making him without any deformations few times but it went nowhere, it didn't seem right and I was stuck either way. I couldn't put the finger on it though. Why? Then I started brainstorming on Ezekiel. I just wanted to know a bit more about him, he had been lying in my sandbox for a while. I can still remember how he suddenly jumped out of bush at me, totally out of nowhere, as a black rabid wolf. Then I read this fanfiction about a boy, a guy who lived in wild from his birth and didn't know how to act human, and somehow this clicked with Zeke's character. That was my primary image of him, a raw idea. Then Katya wrote me about plots for Iskandar, asking about Zeus. Sadly, I didn't really have any ideas plus Zeus was supposed to be bitten by his mother not an unknown werewolf. I decided to offer Zeke, and somehow those two ended up becoming brothers. It was the breaking point for Ezekiel because suddenly the whole history and his character and why he is how he is started making sense to me. He grew in front of my eyes, so I focused on him and decided to make application for him first, putting Zeus aside for a while. When I started working on the app I came to a realization about Zeus that made me see what it was that seemed so wrong about him and why I couldn't get any ideas on him. I realized I was trying to fit Zeus into something he wasn't. I simply took the black veins and his other differences, that are what he is, and tried to fit him into a wolf's coat. A wolf's coat that belongs to someone else, precisely Ezekiel Rzhevsky. I was really surprised by how easily Zeke and his feature came to me, how perfectly he fitted the image of werewolf and how quickly he developed. Most importantly, how comfortable I felt about writing all of this. I didn't have to sit and think for hours about how to fit him into this, how to write his application and what to say - until I got a headache from it and done just a one crappy paragraph. With Zeke I sat down and simply wrote, it all came to me as my fingers ran over the keyboard. I gave up trying to force Zeus into something else and dropped the idea of him being werewolf, putting him aside to figure out what the hell he really is. And I finally gave all my attention to Zeke and this application. The Change: Becoming werewolf allowed Zeke many things. He found his freedom and started getting to know himself. This allowed him to grow. To become strong and confident. To become his own person that doesn't have to depend on his big brother in everything. To have his eyes opened with harsh reality of having to fight for everything. Of having to live his own life not his brother's. Of having to stop pitying himself and whine and hate all useless detail instead of the real threat. Stop being a crybaby and trying to make himself his own grave. It allowed him to see what he wants from life, what's really important and what not. The bite made from a fragile and weak boy that was scared of the big world out there, a samurai. Not a soldier that listens to orders, but an independent warrior of honor. All I can say is that everyone has a way of getting to know themselves. Everyone has a way of learning and growing. Everyone has a way of searching for the things they want from life, where they want to go, what do they strive for, how they'll cope with what the future offers them to their content and how they'll use mistakes and dark moments to become even stronger and most importantly...happy. How they'll learn from bad experiences? The bite was a start of this. Being a werewolf is Zeke's path of finding and learning that keeps his eyes open to reality. The Wolf-qualities: In a lot of ways, becoming a werewolf changed Zeke's nature but there are certain things that were present even before, even if subtly, that helped the man become so at peace with his inner beast. Zeke had always been a social person at the core despite his introverted nature, someone who craves affection, unlike Zeus who is very introverted and more of a loner. Wolves have the need for company and being a part of their society or hierarchy which is written in their genes, and Ezekiel is the same. Despite all of his bitterness he craves the attention and feels the need to belong somewhere. His heart is more passionate than Zeus overall is as well. For a wolf or werewolf that's again more fitting. He is naturally wild, possessive, protective and doesn't like people touching the things he counts as his. He acts very territorial, if someone endangers his belongings or space...and this goes even without the effects of Werewolf curse, God-forbid, if someone tried to hurt person he is close with and considers friend or family. Zeus was a soft persona at the core, more stable and sophisticated, which didn't really fit to the lycanthrophy image either despite his anger problems. Zeke on the other side is more rough around the edges and naturalistic. His way of seeing the world is pessimistic, darker, exactly like I would imagine a 45 years old werewolf who's scarred by past bad experiences to approach his life and surroundings. His, let's say pure nature, makes him see many things differently than other people do...and value especially bonds, trust and physical closeness. He expresses himself through his body, definitely isn't a logical and wise person like Zeus was again inclined to be, although when it comes to his brain and battle strategy or survival instincts he definitely is anything but dumb. Over the years spent in wild he managed to get hold on his intuition and instincts, as well as learned how it feels to be free. He got accustomed to the feeling of freedom, had always craved to be...wolves might be a social creatures but they are still very strong and independent and need their space. They are not to be tamed as taking away their freedom can make them rabid. Zeke is exactly like this. He is independent and very powerful, however, at the core the man feels the need to find just the right person he could trust and submit to. Zeke doesn't respect anyone and doesn't bow to anyone who he doesn't trust but that doesn't change the fact he isn't a naturally born leader but more of a follower. A Beta. He needs both comfort and leader but one who will not try to control him. Coming to London will make Zeke more cautious, as he knows too well the discrimination that goes around about Werewolves, especially Muggleborn Werewolf. He hates only the simplest thought of having to register somewhere like some kind of criminal so he'll have to learn quickly how to blend in, if he doesn't want to uncover himself. He will grow to be more worried about his safety and second guess a lot of things before jumping into them, which could be in a way really good for him...but the man will still remain the rough ball of wild fur and teeth at the core and especially in place he doesn't have to hide who he is. If Zeke end ups making friends, he's gonna learn what it means to feel protective and worried about them, or hurting them, or the feeling of loyalty which every wolf has in their bones. The Damage: Being a Lycanthrope had always meant problems and damage to a certain level no matter how much the person embraced his inner beast. Zeke isn't any exception, what more, in some ways he is very possibly damaged and broken beyond repair, however, only time will show. The transformation itself is a process that greatly exhausts his body and health no matter how much he loves the night of the full moon. Zeke is more prone to catch an illnesses, although his ability to regenerate is faster and stronger. A simple thing like cold is able to make unable to function for several days, if he doesn't get a treatment soon enough. He is already hard to be around normally, but ill Zeke is a huge pain in the ass, especially since he tends to drive himself until the point of exhaustion, and even then he still claims he's absolutely fine. He also gets feelings of nausea just before the full moon and quite frequently, especially if he feels emotionally unstable or someone managed to tick him off. He has a bit of problems with his back which is both connected to the transformation, the toll it's taking on his body, and his natural aging and is the reason why he exercises so much. There are of course his scars. Zeke's body never healed from the wounds inflicted on him that time, when Iskandar attacked him. He has multiple bite marks and some marks after claws as well that were treated but not soon enough to heal perfectly. He's not only self-conscious over his body due to that but these scars tend to ache and itch from time to time, sometimes they even hurt a bit. Zeke also tends to fall tired after a few days of regenerating from his last transformation. He's usually very weak and sick right after the night of full moon for about two or three days and often ends up wounded and bruised and has to seek out a healer, upon returning to the city. Recently he had been also taking some potions before and after his transformation to ease a bit of the pain he feels, if nothing else. Of course, the negative effects don't involve only his physical side but the mental as well. Trust issues, emotional explosions, nightmares are a daily part of Zeke's life, despite that he wouldn't change who he is. ~ can and will open your yielding throat ~General plot: Is about Zeke and how he will continue to grow. How he copes with being back in cities, having job and the need to talk to others. It's about him learning again what it means to act as human but don't loose himself. It's about him trying to blend back in, find a life. He isolated himself to grow up, get his own person together, now he needs to start making the life he never had before. Friends, maybe some old familiar faces, and a partner, having the chance to finally explore his desires. I'm eager to see how he will cope with his hate towards wizards and learning manners along the way so he wouldn't be suspicious to the outer world. Healing his lonely and dried out heart. I feel that this offers many kinds of potential plots and threads with various characters and situations. I want to start with Zeke almost from the beginning, few months after he started living in London. Freshly after he worked out the contract with the Ministry and found a tiny place to live in so he wouldn't have to sleep homeless on streets. Iskandar Rzhevsky: Will try to search for his brother and that will have him come near the London. During the full moon he will come across his younger brother in his wolf form but they will not recognize each other. Because Iskandar will be on Zeke's "territory" and the other will feel threatened, he will attack Iskandar. They are going to fight, both will live and one of them is going to win, both injured badly after. Later, Iskandar will find his brother and upon their first bump-into-each-other they will recognize the other's scent which will result in Ezekiel being angry and hurt once again (probably throwing a fit), bringing out the pain from years ago. Iskandar won't give up on this, trying to make his brother trust him again. He will hung around him, making the other only annoyed at first. The future where this develops is uncertain but I'm pretty sure it's gonna involve this special feature and bits of it rather often. Dante Boscono: Is a Healer at St. Mungo's. He works with creature induced injuries and is gonna meet Zeke after he comes to the hospital to treat his wounds which he got during the full moon. Dante will bump into Zeke after a while again, as he gets injured during the full moon pretty often, and eventually figures out who Ezekiel really is. He's not gonna tell anyone though and that will make the Werewolf trust him and open up to him a bit. Those two will probably become friends. There's a one more plot for later, when Zeke gets into fight with his brother Iskandar in his wolf form, he will try to apparate to his apartment but injured and weak ends up somewhere unknown. By a lucky coincidence he will end up at the door of Dante himself who will take him in and treat him. Niska Zukov: Will definitely know about Zeke being a werewolf. Niska is the one who took him under his wing and is going to help him with blending in. He is a strong fighter, able to handle Zeke, when the wolf flips and have enough patience to cope with the stubborn wizard. He probably helped him with searching for a job or what he could look for in the first place, so it would fit his persona and his abilities. He will teach him how to act like a human not a wolf, put a bit of social sense into his head. Possibly teach him better English since Zeke's ability to use languages has turned pretty imperfect over the years of living in wild. There is a lot of possibilities of what could happen during his time with Niska as well, considering this special feature. Medusa: Lives on an island alone. During his first years in wild Zeke traveled a lot and was able to visit the island and meet Medusa. Since she isn't completely human he feels closer to her and is going to come back to the island to visit her. He will probably tell her about being a werewolf willingly, maybe even show her what he can do without the full moon. And who knows, he might visit her more times than once. Ashley Morigan: Is a Vampire hunter just as Zeke is. They will work together on hunting them and along the way will become friends. Zeke is going to develop a strong feelings of friendship towards him, trusting Ashley. Eventually though, Ash is going to find out about Zeke being Werewolf which will make Ashley hate him and Zeke feel betrayed and angry once again. Ashley is probably going to try to kill Zeke eventually. That only makes questions like 'will they ever be friends again' arise and another plots will have to find answers for it, which will definitely involve Zeke's wolf side as well. ~ and i want you to think of this the next time i smile ~A loud thwack predicted the arrival of a bloody clothed man. An elegant robe, falling from his shoulders was covering majority of his body, revealing only dark jeans that hugged his legs. He was barefoot and his face was hidden under cowl. The man slowly started to walk down the meadow, nearing a forest that towed far away from where his eyes could see. Zeke stopped before entering the woods and sat down, pulling the cowl away. He looked up and just watched the sky for a while as the sun that was slowly lowering, colored horizon to shades of red and orange. The left corner of his mouth lifted up slightly for a quick second. It was a beautiful view. He leaned against a tree, blue eyes trained upwards, while his fingers ran over the grass. He took a long deep breath, enjoying the fresh air and the sound of birds singing. Those were one of the many things he missed since he started living in city. Also the smell of needles or flowers. They were things that were really rare in London. Smog and other foul smells only killed his nose. On the other side, if he wanted to go back to living in wild he could. Only, he didn't want to. He wanted to have a life, wanted to know how does it feel to live like others. Maybe then, if he'll see it's not for him he'll leave. But he wanted to know what he already forgot and what others had on daily basis. Tonight though, he was going to be all by himself. Will be himself. He could feel how his wolf was restless. How much the animal, the beast wanted to get out. He couldn't wait either even though he never knew what he did during the full moon. But the feeling of running through the forest, the light of the moon, always came back to him in dreams. He called them memories. Fragments. Zeke didn't wait until the sun disappeared, leaving the earth in the clutches of night. He wasn't able to sit there for so long. He slid off his robe and jeans, leaving his skin bared. He folded his clothes into a pile and placed it beside one of the trees. Kneeling, he then gave one last look to the aggressively colored horizon before he ordered his body to move. He leaped from the ground in a one swift movement, feet digging into the dirt, and he was disappearing in the forest's depth. As he ran, the trees around were only dark shadows to him. They were passing him every second like a neverending crowd of spectators. He zigzagged between the tree thunks with ease, used to the feeling of sharp things hitting his bare feet. Used to the sting, if a thin branch slashed his skin. He ignored it, it wasn't a pain worth attention. Instead he focused on the feeling of freedom as he ran. The wind against his bare skin that made his heart flutter in happiness. He got to feel it much less than before and he missed it. He missed running miles of wild nature, race against the wind, fight against a fiery river. That was a real feeling. That was a real ecstasy, something that the people in cities were robbed off. He pitied them for it. For being so blind. They weren't able to see what they had right under their noses. But people were blind to many other things. Led by fear. Ezekiel stopped. He looked up to the sky that was now almost dark. He looked around, breathing wildly, everywhere only trees. He could feel sweat trickling down his back as he continued deeper into the forest, now simply walking. The dark came soon, the moon as well and Zeke found himself scratching the bite mark on his left peck that started to itch. It was all going fast. His body was buzzing and heating up. Zeke closed his eyes to focus on the feeling. The heat slowly increased and soon his muscles started to burn. He could feel the light of the moon on his skin. He growled, feeling the strong pull inside his gut that was telling him the transformation was starting. A second later his eyes opened, revealing a bright ember orbs that hungrily stared at the white planet on the sky, asking for more. He groaned as he felt his teeth growing into sharp canines. He opened his mouth to take in the scents surrounding him better. He inhaled sharply, when he heard the first disgusting cracks, followed by a sharp pain. The man cried out. His mouth soon turned into muzzle, limbs shaping and lengthening. All along the man sniffed in pain, black fur sprouting from his bare back. Suddenly, his neck snapped sharply to the side in a unnatural way, a loud crack echoing. There was a long terrifying silence. Then a howl cut the stillness open. [/div]
Name: MichaelCharacter name: Mihkkal HuuskonenFeature you are applying for: Discipulus HorDescription of the character: Mihkkal is a member of a village of Sami wizards and elementals who live in the Sami Domicile Area in Northern Finland. His family have been herding reindeer for many years and have one of the largest herds in Scandinavia. In addition to their successes as reindeer herdsmen, Mihkkal's father has served as a member of the village's leadership council due to his status as an elemental. A lot of Mihkkal's life so far has been dedicated to learning about, helping out with, and protecting the family assets, reindeer. The village that Mihkkal and his family live in was founded by a group of travelling elementals and wizards several hundred years ago. Mihkkal showed signs of elemental magic at an early age. The normal course of action for elemental children is that they are removed from their families and placed under the care of one of the elemental families in the village to be instructed in elemental magic and raised as leaders of their home. While his father is one of these elementals in a leadership position, his mother was afraid to have her son denied the opportunity to receive a standard magical education and began influencing his father to lie and hide Mihkkal's elemental magic so that he could attend Koldo with the other children of the village. In an effort to appease Mihkkal's mother, his father took to the books and did some research, finding a suppression rune that could be used to hide his powers from others in the village but would also prevent him from using or showing his powers as well. Turning the rune into a necklace, Mihkkal's parents impressed on him the importance of wearing it on a regular basis. The rune, plus making sure that Mihkkal knew to avoid situations in which his elemental magic could manifest, his parents suppressed the signs of elemental magic until his 11th birthday when he was able to receive admission to Koldo. Koldo was Mihkkal's first exposure to the wider wizarding world. The people in his village dealt almost exclusively with each other, providing the things that each other needed in their community. Being relatively sheltered through the younger part of his life compared to many of his classmates made his first year or two seem rather awkward while he tried to figure out what was going on in a non-communal society and had to do his best to learn Russian. Life in the high arctic has helped breed elements of a hard nature into Mihkkal. He is calculating, practical, logical in the ways he approaches problems, because where he comes from, indecision and foolishness can cost one their life. The boy's hard nature and cold exterior are just a consequence of his work. When with his family or those from his village, the young Sami is a very enjoyable person to be around. He cares deeply for the bonds of village and community, especially guarding the culture of the Sami people. The one area of his life that is somewhat different from a normal Hor elemental is that Mihkkal is prone to lust or jealousy. This is the one emotion that gets the best of him. Having had little by way of leisure time or items during his early childhood, the boy's eyes were opened upon his arrival at Koldo. He does his best to keep his jealousy and lust under wraps, but isn't always able. Now that he has attained admission to, and has begun his studies at, Koldo; instead of hiding his elemental nature to avoid drawing attention to something people don't know anything about and exposing the elemental order, Mihkkal does his best to hide his elemental nature to prevent being found out by the leaders of the village. If they found out that his parents had purposely kept his elemental powers a secret, they could be in serious trouble. Application: I have been on MH for many years now and my first character, Kyle Gibbes, eventually retconned from his humble Hufflepuff background to an Madin elemental. Apart from Kyle, I have never had a character with an SF and had never really considered the option of creating a character dependent on the SF for their character. Mihkkal is somewhat different. Mihkkal snuck into my head as I was working on Mattias and noticed the need for more Koldo students. Jared had Volya at Koldo and I thought it would be an interesting dynamic to see a student master relationship actually play out as opposed to the so often done NPC for elemental training or students getting together and helping each other. That being the case, originally I saw Mihkkal as more of a nomadic / gypsy character background, but as I did some more research I found a lot of information about reindeer herding and the Sami people of Scandinavia. Fascinated by them and the prospect of a more rural character, I kept reading and researching and as I did, Mihkkal grew into a more defined being in my mind.Mihkkal is different from most played elementals on the site as he was born an elemental and identified by his parents as such before ever leaving for school. The dynamic of a village with an elemental caste came about after talking more with Samm about some possible plots. Working a little bit on the background, I developed the idea a little more and came up with the village of Karkvikog; a village founded by wizards and elementals working together with a somewhat ambiguous past shrouded in legend passed down orally. Key to his development will be the idea of having kept his elemental nature under wraps through his childhood and into his time at Koldo. He is incredibly secretive to avoid the chance anyone from home could find out he is an elemental and the leadership of the village retaliate against his family for hiding him. Mihkkal is also somewhat advanced in the theoretical stages of his elemental knowledge. He has a vast understanding of how things work, at least from the tradition used to train in the village. Because the village is not quite council, they have not adapted in the same ways the council has. Some of the magic used is slightly different and Mihkkal had no understanding of Gaelic at all. However, seeing his father and some of the others in the village use elemental magic, Mihkkal knows the incantations and the basics of how to manipulate water. This makes him more receptive to the training and he is able to pick up on things faster as a result. As of now, he is at a fourth year level in spells, about a half year ahead; and is able to hold the basics of a morph. He will undergo his initialization during his third year which I hope to play out. Other than that I would like to thank everyone for the help and willingness to plot and thread with Mihkkal. I know that there are not a lot of future plots listed out, but there are some very in depth plots that will play off the village idea and the opportunity to have more elemental threads with council connections and school will open plenty of new ideas once the young lad has moved outside his comfort zone of sheltered life in Karkvikog.Future plots: I have talked with Jared and his elemental Volya will have been the one who "discovered" Mihkkal. Mihkkal knows what being an elemental would mean if the village found out he was one so he has worked with Volya to keep everything done for training done at school. We have talked about doing training threads around the school from time to time.A big part of any elemental's life and development is their initialization. Since Mihkkal is somewhat hidden from the people of his village, this is an even more interesting piece. In the village, the Initialization, or Vuoch'chân ceremony is a culminating event for an elemental. Family is invited, friends are there and it is a full coming of age party. The village truly sees you as a member of the community at this point. Mihkkal's rune necklace and family protection has prevented the village from finding out about him. While his parents have explained why nobody can know he is an elemental at home, as he gets closer to his initialization in the elemental order, Mihkkal starts to want to be honest with himself and his village. His initialization ceremony will be done in secret as a protection to him and his family but Mihkkal is also going to end up letting his secret slip to one or two of his closest friends, not being able to deal with the internal struggle of hiding it from everyone anymore. One of the people that Mihkkal tells about his secret will be Konrad Lidström. Konrad has a protectors mentality that will help Mihkkal feel safe about his secret being in his hands. In a way, Konrad will take on the role of a big brother for Mihkkal as he is away from family and no one back at home outside his family even knows the real him. Konrad and Mihkkal will be a close pair from the time around his initialization until after Konrad leaves school. Dylan 's Kanat and Mihkkal will have run into each other at the council in Mihkkal's history. This will have been an opportunity for him to learn about other magical schools since he doesn't know much about the magical world besides his little village. After getting along favorably, Mihkkal handled the Durmstrang merge better than many of his classmates from Koldo. Now Kanat and Mihkkal continue to thread at the council from time to time for extra training and general life as an elemental advice. And here is the big one. Samm's WIP Ramazan was important in the founding of Mihkkal's village of Karkvikog. During the founding, the people of the village made a deal with Ramazan, who the villagers now know as The Founder, that they would isolate the children with elemental powers to train them to lead the village and instruct them in the elemental magics as children. This deal was all fine and well as long as there were no more than 5 elementals in a generation. After the 5th one, Ramazan was entitled to return to the village and collect any additional children to train on his own. Mihkkal's parents didn't really believe the legend anymore as no particular generation had had 5 elementals in it so they decided to hide his magic so that he could get a Koldo life. As a result, Ramazan is going to find out that there is a 6th in the generation and end up coming to collect him. There will be a fight and ultimately much of the village will be killed off / have its Madin protection removed. After learning more about the deal that exists between The Founder and the village, and finding out that it is real, Mihkkal is going to spend quite a bit of time scouring the library. During this time, he will work with his friends who know about his elementalism to help search more books, believing that time is of the essence. His secrecy will likely draw the attention of professors and staff, but with the danger that his home is in, the only person he can trust is Volya. In addition to research threads, Mihkkal will relay his concerns with Volya and will discuss going back, revealing himself to the village, and what he can do to prevent anything too damning happening with Ramazan.RP sample using the feature: Mihkkal was exhausted, physically and mentally from last term. His elemental training was now in its third and arguably most difficult year, and his course work was picking up. It was sheer willpower that had gotten the young Sami through the last few weeks and into winter break. The break could not have come at a better time, and yet, winter break didn't mean the same thing to Mihkkal and his family as it did to most others. To Mihkkal , winter was the most dangerous time of year for his family and their prized herd of reindeer, the family livelihood. Living as far north as they did, Muggle related accidents were uncommon, but predatory, drowning, and freezing accidents were far too common. As such, Mihkkal and his family spent as many hours a day as was safe outside with their herd, ensuring they had access to fresh, unfrozen water and a plentiful supply of hay to keep them fed.Three days into his "holiday" Mihkkal woke and began his ritual of preparing for work in the frozen north. Fastening his gákti, Mihkkal checked his pocket to ensure a few rune stones were still present. The young man cradled the Lapis Lazuli in his hand before dropping it back into his pocket and heading to the door of his cabin. Stepping into the bitter high arctic winter snow and winds, Mihkkal began his rounds as quickly as the weather would allow. The first paddock was only a few hundred yards from the cabin, but in this weather, it was a struggle not only to reach it but even to see inside once there. Hopping the fence Mihkkal moved to the central structure that provided shelter to the reindeer in the harsh conditions. Once under the semi shelter, Mihkkal pulled down some hay and checked the water trough. Realizing it was nearly bone dry, the young man removed a glove and reached into his pocket for one of the small blue runes. His family had practiced water manipulation, and even some base forms of elemental magic for years, but now that he had been identified as a true elemental, Professor Nikolov insisted that he use his magic properly. Focusing on the trough full of warm, drinkable water, Mihkkal uttered the incantation "Hor Maximo" and immediately watched as trough filled itself. Tossing the dust from the expended rune aside, Mihkkal gloved back up and made his way to the next paddock.During the summer, the second paddock was his favorite. It bordered the river and was far enough from the cabin that it was hard to keep a careful eye from the porch and yard area. During the winter, however, the river provided an extra enemy. Predatory wolves and lynx were common enough through the winter, but the frozen river would annually claim several head of reindeer if not carefully monitored. As Mihkkal approached he could already tell what was going on. The wooden post of the fence had been knocked off its fastening by one of the bull calves. Quickly retying the fastening with the bailers twine he had stashed in a tree stand nearby, Mihkkal began the search for the missing calf. Moving towards the river, the search took next to no time for as soon as he reached the bank, Mihkkal saw the young reindeer near the middle of the river, one foot stuck in a hole of ice, probably his own making. Taking a tentative step towards the calf to test the river, Mihkkal found a path that led him to within a few feet of the injured calf, but he could go no further for fear of dropping both of them into the frozen water. After a few moments thought, a crazy idea came to him. The calf was only a few feet away and he still had a few runes. The last spell hadn't taken much out of the boy, so grabbing a second stone, Mihkkal concentrated on the new spell Professor Nikolov had been teaching him. The water whip would allow Mihkkal to wrap around the calf and, hopefully, jostle it out of the ice and to safety. Focusing on a steady stream of water, the incantation "Hor Cubo" was barely audible of the wind. The whip of water that appeared almost instantly was now under Mihkkal 's control. Easing it around the calf, Mihkkal pulled gently on it, loosening the hold the ice had on the calf's hoof. After a few more pulls, Mihkkal was able to pull the calf free and began moving back to the paddock. He still had a lot of work ahead of him, but at least this young bull would be safe tonight.
Name: LenaCharacter name: Volker BlauveltFeature you are applying for: Garth Advocate First affinity: Ice Second affinity: Rebirth Description of the character: First of all, I would like to briefly mention in this section my history with Volker and how his personality has mostly evolved and changed through the interaction with both students at Beauxbatons and elementals at Inverness throughout the years that I have actively played him in the past. Volker Blauvelt... How do I even being to explain Volker Blauvelt?"Volker Blauvelt is flawless." "I hear his hair's insured for $10,000.""I hear he does sunglasses commercials... in Ibiza." "One time, I returned a library book late and he made me apologise to the book page by page. Then he froze my foot to a tree. It was awesome." "He's like sunshine without the heat."The element of ice, as known, is the most powerful element and the most difficult to master. However, because it is quite powerful indeed, I have made Volker extremely conscious of the dangers that come with his ability, which resulted in him being up to date with all of his elemental studies, sometimes even studying further ahead on his own. His desire of being in control of his abilities as quickly as possible had given me the opportunity to roleplay Volker as a rather skilled ice elemental for his age during his teen years. My possibilities became even wider upon the happening of the Beauxbatons rogue attack in the past, and since that incident specifically, there hadn't been any occasion in which I hadn't reflected Volker's elemental skills in threads. Several Harbingers were fond of him, which indirectly influenced even more his desire to give his studies more priority. He particularly had a natural talent at morphing and I always put an emphasis on that, especially when Volker felt cornered - on several occasions, I have also played that out.I will now present Volker's personality as a whole, with bits from his sheet - however, please take note that he is not the typical ice elemental, meaning that he does not share some core characteristics of the typology. This is why his second affinity is something that explains the contradictions between the element of ice and his personality. I will go further into that in the application section, but I felt the need to mention these things here as well, with the risk of repeating myself. This is all because Volker is a complex character in my opinion, and from 2007 to 2012 had evolved a lot on his own, which, I state yet again, strengthened my need to place this slight explanatory introduction here. Even though he may not seem like that, Volker is a critic. He dislikes it when people don't do it his way, usually considering that it is wrong and a little too complicated for his tastes. Usually sticking to what he knows from books, as Volker is very well read, the boy considers that he sometimes knows more than others, therefore, he sometimes might act as if he were superior to others, especially people he dislikes. As he is reserved sometimes, the boy is certainly not timid. He doesn't fear to express his own opinion, no matter how much trouble that might cause him. Also, compromise isn't something he agrees with. One must fight if they believe in something. Easy-going and sometimes extroverted, Volker surely hasn't any problems in communicating with people. As long as he doesn't find anything wrong with them or they don't talk certain problems he does not approve of, Volker can be a nice companion. More intuitive than rational sometimes, Volker can be very impulsive. He likes doing things right away, since he has the impression that waiting might be considered rude by some, even by himself. Even though he reads a lot and sometimes gets his ideas and beliefs from some books, Volker is creative and imaginative himself, writing being one of his best skills. Philosophy being his favorite, Volker does enjoy reading it, even though it can be very hard to understand sometimes. Creating some inclination to go to extremes, Volker is sometimes stubborn as well, thinking that he is always right and trying to stick to his own ideas. Sometimes too serious, Volker rarely stands jokes unless he makes them. Sarcasm is sometimes part of his personality, so as time passed by, the boy got used to getting answers to his somewhat critical replies. As much as he dislikes it, he considers that people who contradict him and actually get into a verbal fight with him are very smart and respects them for that. Also, violence isn't something he likes. Volker is very peaceful and tries to avoid physical fights as much as he can. Being rather patient with the people he knows very well, Volker enjoys helping his friends, although he always takes the place of the leader. But on the other hand, since he sometimes knows more than some people, he doesn't see anything wrong in it. Also, he is an artist. Writing, playing the guitar, photography and sometimes drawing have always been part of his life, so he is very sensitive when people pick on him because of this. Also, he tends to see the best in people he likes. As a last trait, the boy is reserved with people he does not know. As much as he is very nice, kind and helpful to his close ones, it takes a lot to gain his trust and friendship. He might talk to a lot of people, but that does not mean that all of them are his friends, which reveals a double-faceted pattern within his personality. As you notice, Volker is very much within the pattern of an ice elemental, but he lacks the introversion, shyness and desire of withdrawal which are generally encountered within this element. He is also very keen on having physical contact with individuals; I don't like to stereotype, but he is a typical European - he likes both hugging and kissing when meeting a person for example, generally not giving a lot of philosophical meaning to such gestures. To him, they merely represent the notion of having good manners. His previously approved second affinity was rebirth. I will divide the explanation of this between all the sections, but here I would like to bring this into the light: while Volker always associated himself with a dangerously powerful element, during his 7th year at Beauxbatons, he would have discovered his second affinity, something which would counterbalance the ice element's introversion and desire of solitude. As I planned it out before with Julie, rebirth wasn't something he had particularly decided to study, but Volker had discovered it as being his second affinity through a small incident (which has been played in character before). While this explains his not complete compatibility in personality with the ice element, it would also make him behave in such a way for the time first time; he wouldn't know who he is anymore, therefore shutting himself in, even if he would not go into a deeper kind of isolation from most people until after graduation. Application: Discovery & History: Volker's discovery never was something truly special. Since when I first applied for Volker, there weren't any elemental students at Beauxbatons, it was agreed that he was discovered by an unknown older student during his first year at Beauxbatons. The story that had been established before was that Volker and older sister, Vanessa, had an argument on the school grounds (because they're so dramatic they can't wash their undergarments in private like normal siblings) and his older sister got so upset at him and wanted to cast a spell, to play a prank on him. However, Volker felt threatened and somehow made ice appear out of nowhere, scaring away his sister and her friends. The NPC older student witnessed everything and took the then eleven year old boy to Professor Peter Alva Tannenbaum, who explained to Volker that he was an ice elemental and what that implied, including the possibilities he could have if he were to train and join the Elemental Council. Volker immediately decided that he would join the Council and work hard to nurture his talents, now that I think about it, most likely due to the fact that he admired Peter Alva ever since day one. Also, Volker decided that he wouldn't tell anyone about his special abilities, not even his close ones, as he wouldn't want to be regarded as different.Since he was discovered quite early, Volker didn't have time to realise he wasn't a talent with wand magic, therefore he just resigned from the start he wouldn't do well in that area, consequently focusing his studies more in the artistic subjects, aside from his private elemental classes. Fast forwarding to the Beaxbatons rogue attack during his fifth year, at that time Volker was Musketeer of his house and had just started his process of wooing beautiful, older and charming Émilie Côté. Because he had his eyes set on her, Volker even did ridiculous things, such as searching for her stolen cat, or joining the Quidditch team despite hating flying. Within this context where Volker took care of his reputation as one of Beauxbatons' elite students, the rogue attack at Beauxbatons happened. As he didn't want people to get hurt, Volker had to use his powers, along with other elementals there, to get rid of the rogues. In the end everything was fine, as they received help from the Council, but everything had come as a complete shock for Volker, from his sudden reveal as an elemental to the fact that people actually died during the attack. Feeling both guilty and depressed, Volker showed signs of withdrawal despite his generally flamboyant attitude. Despite having his close friends and Émilie particularly understanding regarding the matter, Volker couldn't get over the issue easily, and started socialising more with fellow elementals at Inverness. From the ones still around since back then, Memphis is one of the older elementals Volker is close to, and also admired quite a bit. He felt lonely at Beauxbatons even if he wasn't alone, so for the first time he was truly grateful to his eleven year old self for admiring Peter Alva to the extent of joining the Council without even processing it. I think for Volker this was the exact moment where he extended his loyalty from Peter Alva to the entirety of the Council and elementals there. His introversion had manifested itself until him and Émilie officially became a couple, which also coincided with him finding out he would once again be Musketeer and, in addition, co-captain on the Quidditch team. I wanted to specify the latter to show his devotion to something he puts his mind to doing even if he doesn't like it (Quidditch), and also to reveal the extent to which Émilie can influence him. The expression "love is blind" truly applies to Volker in what regards Émilie, as everything she does is perfect to him, and ever since she had become his girlfriend, she had priority in his life, even over himself. The reason I mention this will make sense in a bit.During his sixth year at Beauxbatons, I had always brought up his elemental abilities in his threads. It was also an important year for Volker, as his younger sister, Anke (at that time being played), who had stopped talking to him upon finding out that he is an elemental, had opened up to Volker again. They were very close before the attack and I think Anke became anxious around Volker due to his withdrawal tendencies after the attack, but upon seeing her brother acting normally again, the girl decided to bring their relationship back to normal. During his sixth year, Volker also realised Émilie was his other half - he had an awful accident during a Quidditch game, which was very bad and made him understand that life was pointless unless Émilie was there with him, always. He made up his mind to propose.During his seventh year, he actually did propose. However, this was before him figuring out his second affinity. One day, as he was patrolling the school grounds (he was yet again Musketeer in his seventh year), Volker had noticed a small, little sparrow lying on the gardens, dead. He picked it up and kept it in his hands so he would bury it somewhere next to a tree, but before he could have the chance of doing so, the little bird started chirping again. I'm unsure whether or not Volker kept the bird to show it to Peter Alva, but from what I played and planned later on with Julie, Volker realised something was amiss, and went directly to talk to his mentor. Peter Alva would have realised Volker's inclinations towards rebirth, and would suggest to him how to approach the situation. Throughout the year, the two would meet and discuss things, ending up to the conclusion that Volker needs to learn to control and nurture his second affinity, Peter Alva also pointing out the fact that Volker, upon graduation, would especially have to dedicate himself to his elemental studies, and also pursue the search of runes, artefacts, and any kind of materials which would contain knowledge about the element of rebirth. It's not in my notes from back then if Volker would have told other elementals about this, but I assume hopefully correct that the Harbingers would at least know at this point in time. Up until here, everything had been played out, and from now, I will focus on how Volker's adult years so far would have been. Adulthood & Plans:As soon as graduation was over, Volker would've moved directly to Inverness, to both start his Advocate studies and prepare for his travels. It was then when he realised that he had to make himself the number one priority in his life, and move Émilie to the second. Not because of selfish reasons or because he didn't love her anymore, but because he considered himself a dangerous presence around her, particularly when he knew very little to almost nothing in what regarded his second affinity. Volker would've told her all of that, including about his second affinity, and would have asked her to postpone their wedding until he would be back. Naturally, he assumed that Émilie understood all of that, and left without thinking they'd have problems, so a lot of spectacularly awesome dramatic events will evolve from this.I plan on saying Volker has visited and researched about rebirth in Japan, India, and Egypt so far, and at this point in playing he would have started studying the Maya civilisation, having already been in Mexico and Guatemala, and still having to visit El Salvador. In between his travels, he'd be at Inverness, catching with his Advocate training. The way I thought it through would be that Volker would have researched about yōkai in Japan, and would have probably gone to visit old temples. What I would like to do if accepted, if also possible, because I am most knowledgeable about Japan out of these countries, is maybe have Volker discover (by complete accident, beginner's dumb luck, really) an ancient wizarding temple (perhaps the magical equivalent of a Shinto shrine) in Japan, as that would be really awesome for everyone (and also helpful to me). He'd have obviously gone through everything bad first, be the target and victim of all curses, spiders, lizards and every mollusc Japan has, taken the artefacts and parchments he needed, and later on anonymously let the Japanese Ministry know about the discovery, so it would become an attraction to the wizarding community there. If I get accepted and anyone's keen on this idea, I'd really love to evolve on this with the collaboration of the Mahoutokoro team. For India, I would say he did a lot of exploring in temples, in search of runes and artefacts in general, and in Egypt he'd have revisited the sphinx and pyramids. Regarding the Maya civilisation, I plan on saying Volker would research particularly about their astronomical knowledge and their three-way division of the world into the celestial realm, the earth, and the underworld. In the future, I wish for him to explore Eastern Europe, particularly Romania, since there's the Romanian sphinx which supposedly hides the secret of immortality as perceived by the Dacian god Zalmoxis and I believe it would be better for me to play it out in an area I know by heart, and therefore could expand on that a whole lot. I have worked out connections in all of these areas, or at least the continents. Volker would have beforehand contacted academics which either specialise in what he's looking for, or others who would guide him in the right direction, and would constantly keep in contact with them, even now and in the future. I will mention the drivers I contacted and their respective characters in question in the future plots section, for the sake of not repeating myself and making this application even longer. In addition to that, Memphis would be Volker's guide and mentor through his travels, giving him advice and helping Volker with whatever he needed to survive. Furthermore, many more exploration opportunities are ahead if this feature is accepted, as Volker would get back from Guatemala, he'd also want some sort of source of income after mooching off his parents for three years, so he would officially start working with Memphis and do explorations and research for a living. I realise I have emphasised more on the second affinity rather than on the ice elemental part, as I admit, it's hard for me to even imagine Volker as anything but an ice elemental after having played him as an ice elemental for so long. I can assure you however that I can do this feature justice, as I hope to have proven it in the past. I have experience with both special features and roleplaying within strict parameters which must be respected. I have shown my dedication to constantly and actively playing out special features through the characters I have had in the past: Volker Blauvelt previously having had this feature, along with its second affinity, Pandora Preda who was a Colour Hor, Georgia Fletcher as a metamorphmagus, and Ruadhán de Róiste as an unregistered dog animagus; the fact that I can respect the parameters that are given to me were reflected by the canon characters which I had, Viktor Krum and Gwenog Jones, and, in addition to this all, I've also had Lord Voldemort and Harry Potter with both canon restrictions and special features (both at the same time, if I may add). I'd like to believe I was trusted with all of them because I did them all justice, and proven my reliability and capability when having characters with special features, and can only hope you can trust me again with Volker's. Future plots: In all honesty, I truly believe Volker's main plot is himself. He has evolved so much through his elementalness and he will continue doing so. The psychological evolution is something that I really intend to reflect in all of his upcoming posts, should he be reapproved. From the flamboyant teenager, he becomes a reserved adult, devoted to discovering whom he is and what he can do with his life. I plan on saying that this time around, when he comes back, he hands all his discoveries to the Council (naturally to Peter Alva, so I assume the Harbingers first, and later on to everyone else) and I can see his second affinity possibly being a source of plots or mini-plots for the other elementals in the Council. As Volker was among the few first elementals on the site, he's connected with a large majority of elementals that applied after me in the past, and therefore without even me actually getting involved personally (as in posting) in a thread or possible plot, I can see a high possibility of Volker's actions affecting elementals at the Council, if that makes sense. Volker's only constant is his love for Émilie and this will also be played out properly. Me and Christine intend to have the two back together and have planned out many new events for them as a couple. Most importantly, after a three year break, it will be particularly interesting to see how the two of them evolved and how getting back together will affect both of their personalities. I am hoping Émilie will once again become a good influence on Volker, and that her presence will make him feel both at ease and help him define himself, but I want this to evolve on its own, as we play it along. Volker has always developed through his threads, without anything concrete planned out beforehand, and I truly enjoyed this and hope to keep this slight element of surprise (for me as well) still. Volker's main connections to the Council at the present would be Peter (he's very close to Peter Alva, at least from Volker's point of view, and when Julie is around, I will 110% contact her for plots), Memphis, and Luciana. Samm's Memphis Gredel is a friend of Volker since forever, but because Volker was a student before, we didn't have many threading or plotting opportunities. Now, Samm and I established that Memphis would've helped Volker with his travels, give him tips and suggestions, and overall be the mature adult which Volker aims to be. Aside from the plots resulting from Volker's second affinity, we planned out that Volker will start working with Memphis, and so they will have a lot of threads of visiting tombs, pyramids, temples, looking for artefacts, doing research, and overall being two awesome Indiana Jones boys (with matching outfits of course). While I haven't gotten into detail with Lowri, we agreed that Volker and her Luciana Bertinelli will be "rare opposite besties", which will definitely be both fun and interesting to play around with. We previously had such a relationship with Volker and Morgan, which was also amazing to roleplay, so I have confidence their relationship will also evolve into something special to see around. For the connections I've planned out with academics that helped him during the trips, it is a mostly similar pattern, which I hope to customise with the respective drivers as we will start threading. Basically, Volker contacted said professors or researchers with the hope of getting help, which he got, and I suggested we could have Volker hide his elementalness and just state he would introduce himself as an epistemologist, so that, if accepted, we could play out "the big reveal" which would be an interesting twist to all the connections I have established, depending on each's personality and beliefs. I will list Volker's connections by country so it would be a bit easier to follow. Japan: I have contacted Lwin about her yōkai specialist, Akashi Keiji, and we agreed that he would have given Volker private classes regarding the subject. Their relationship would be a close one, having a lot of common interests which include the arts, and Volker would regard Akashi as a very reliable mentor. India: My main connection in India is Samm, as Memphis would have facilitated Volker's stay there by telling him places to search, along with her professor Nazreen Ajay. Nazreen would've helped Volker with finding a place to stay and would have given him tips on the Indian society. Nazreen is familiar with elementals, so I can see her relationship with Volker being a closer one than with his other mentors, as he wouldn't have to completely hide whom he is from the very start. Egypt: My connection here is again Samm (she seriously is one of the best bae) and Memphis, who would arrange Volker's stay in Egypt, along with her WIP Nkechi Al-Busuri Amata, who is a west-African Vodun witch working as a Khopesh in Egypt. Basically, her job is to people like Volker out of the pyramids and away from artefacts they might break or even steal, so Nkechi and Volker would be natural enemies. This will be really fun to play out, especially since I think that Volker would dramatically and completely victimise himself around Nkechi. Americas: Volker's main connection in the Americas would be Sophie's Ernest Franklin. While Sophie and I will evolve on this more once she has more time, we established that Volker and Ernest would be student and mentor. I see things being particularly fun, because Volker wouldn't expect to have many cultural differences with an American, but there would be so many so for me this will be particularly enchanting to play out. Ernest would also guide Volker towards the Akashic Scholars, offering me more roleplaying opportunities. Regarding Akashic Scholars connections, me and Christine are looking forward to having Volker and Luna meet. Just saying, it will be an epic combination. Europe: Rinn's Zaharina Zafirova and Lyall Trickett would be Volker's main connections for the East and West particularly. Zaharina would aid Volker in the Eastern European area, by helping him with finding artefacts and old books and parchments. Lyall would be a constant connection of Volker's at Hogwarts, and since Volker has to be at Inverness a lot, or in the United Kingdom in general, I can see Volker being particularly closer to Lyall, which would offer us wider options of approaching their relationship. Lyall is in research himself, so he would often guide Volker in the right direction when confused. Regarding other elementals in the Council, once she's back and free, I do intend to follow Fee around until she and I will have a plot with her Harbinger Rozenn Seznec. (Putting this here so she also knows I will bother her<333) Rogues: I have talked to Inga and, if Volker gets approved, we will work on something for Volker and Nolan Cairns. Nolan studies time himself, so this will be an interesting situation to approach. Another plot would be with Samm's WIP Ramazan bin Mercan, a Colour Madin, whose second affinity would be death. If both he and Volker are approved, Samm and I have thought to have Ramazan approach Volker and try to convince him to go rogue, which would also result into awesome fights so there's a chance we could also have a lot of plots for other elemental characters from this. Volker and Ramazan's relationship would be really complex and exciting, as they would be connected by their affinity to one of the outer three elements, but they would also be very different in their beliefs, as rebirth and death would be opposites (or I assume they are from the guide, even if it's not explicit?). In my head, rebirth and death are opposites and time is the balance between the two so, that's how my logic around this went. Either way, this entire plot would be very exciting and amazing to play out. These are the plots I have discussed so far, but naturally more would develop if Volker is approved. He's always been one of my most active characters, and I intend on still having him be so, should you trust me with his special feature once more. RP sample using the feature: "Garth demonus." Volker whispered whilst focusing on a small ice statue in front of him. The ice statue he had previously formed was the one of a little bunny; not by choice as much as that the ice elemental needed a little one, yet also very well-defined in order to make it animate. While he was on the right track, it came as difficult for him to have the little ice bunny move, as the best he could do so far was to have it wag its tail for a little over a minute. Perhaps it was because he didn't completely devote himself to learning the more advanced spells after graduation, or perhaps because the element of ice was one of the most difficult ones to master; Volker didn't even consider that the source of his ice bunny not moving properly could be his concerns and exhaustion.Volker had been at it for approximately four hours now, without taking any kind of break. The ice elemental sighed deeply, as he laid on the ground his gaze turning towards the little one which would still not move. It definitely had a personality of its own; Volker tried to make himself believe so, but soon realised that such excuses wouldn't work tomorrow, when he would be reviewed on this spell. Normally, it took quite long to perform such spells, but having it done on a tiny little bunny was supposed to be rather easy, at least comparing to having it done on an ice statue of a human, or perhaps an even bigger specimen, such as a giant. It definitely should be something Volker should be able to do after a little over two years of training. Garth figura had been decent enough, but this one was definitely much harder. "Just move already." Volker said to the bunny before gently poking its ear. The statue looked realistic enough, so why wouldn't it move was beyond him at this point. Maybe it was a bunny that only liked to wag its tail. "Maybe you like Ricky's Shake Your Bon-Bon too much." He laughed, deciding to try one more time before going to get some lunch and perhaps change from his trousers into some shorts - while he had expected Inverness to be cooler, it wasn't as great as the elemental'd have wanted.Volker rolled over and straightened his back and crossed his legs, assuming a meditative position. Taking a deep breath in, the young man tried to liberate his mind from all other worries or thoughts, keeping his focus only one the small statue in front of him. Garth demonus. He said this time round in his mind, in order to perhaps be able to focus a better energy within the spell towards the bunny. Soon enough, the little one started shaking its tail again, but this time around, it also lifted one of its ears and soon enough started to scratch itself with its tiny leg behind it.Volker instantly took both his hands to cover his mouth, not wanting to let out the most inhuman of noises, something between a squeal and a cry of joy. The little ice bunny soon stopped scratching and straightened its back, focusing on the figure of its creator. "Aww." The boy let out, reaching out for the now animated statue. Volker touched its nose gently, as the bunny appeared to mimic a real one and started to sniff the elemental. However, it was actually reaching for Volker's amethyst bracelet, and eagerly began to chew on it. The ice elemental rose his eyebrows in surprise. "Well, now - " he started, letting out a soft laugh. " - I must admit you're right, this bracelet definitely doesn't match my attire today. Thank you for noticing, fashion police." The bunny soon took off Volker's bracelet and started playing around with it, rolling around while munching on an amethyst stone specifically. It was definitely a nice sight to see, especially after stressing over the matter for so long. He could barely wait to show off with the little one to the other Advocates.
Name:@Livvy Character name:@Orion Morris Feature you are applying for:Illusionist (would currently be around his 30th year of practicing the magic)Description of the character:Orion is always willing to go out of his way to help others be happy. He hates to see a sad face. One of his popular opinions is that the happier you are, the easier life will be. That was so until Maureen left him. She had been his happiness. She had been his ENTIRE life. Traveling through the western countries of Europe, he has been in search of his missing Maureen who seems to have vanished off the face of the earth. Along the way, he's met many new face with their own ups and downs. Even though he himself is no longer happy, but a solemn melancholic man, he continues to bring joy to others anyway he can, no matter if they be friend, foe, or stranger. He had imagined a life with Maureen and a family of their own. He still wants that, even if it can't be with Maureen. Though he may be on a long journey to find her, what he's truly searching for is his happiness, whomever that may be who could bring joy back into his life. Application: Growing up with three younger sisters, Orion was always dragged through tea parties and doll house games. At first he resented them when he'd rather run around outside and play in the dirt. As time progressed, he began to cherish his sisters and their creative imaginations. Stories began to unfold and he enjoyed going on the adventures with them. To contribute to their storytelling and explorations, he would use the ability of making illusions to help their stories come to life. At first, it would begin with just small images to represent where they were, what they were using, or what kind of "costumes" they wore. As it progressed, he began to make the images stick around for awhile. His sisters' fairytale dreams became a reality when he used illusions. Besides using the illusions to help with storytelling, he would use his abilities to help others be happy. Orion finds it very disheartening when others are not gay. He would use his abilites for good, never for evil deceit unless the welfare of his life depended on it. These abilites would be used to cheer someone up, whether it was saying "goodbye" to a beloved friend who had passed or moved to far to keep in good touch, make food taste a certain way when one didn't want to eat the meal, or to even make someone laugh with a little trick of the illusion. He never paraded around that he had the ability, but when he saw someone in need, he would offer her talents. Muggles thought him to be a magician. Wizards and witches, though unsure of his nature since he is an illusionist, would enjoy it and converse with him if he successfully made them feel better. Occasionally when he would run out of money for travel or food, he would use his imagery deceptions to make buttons look like coins and pay for food or a ticket. The seller would never know it was him for they would look like coins until enough time had passed for him to be out of sight. As they'd go to count their money, they'd find a few buttons, curious as to how they'd gotten there. Orion would never buy something expensive in this manner. Just enough to help him get by to the next day, and not enough that it would be the seller/company's demise. What would a couple missing dollars do to a million-dollar corporation?Though he has not had the opportunity to have a family of his own, he has always planned to use illusions to enhance his bedtime stories to his children like he had with his sisters and their adventures. The illusions were meant to bring a smile to (mostly) everyone's face and cheer them up. If that meant stories came to life as the lights were shut out or the plate of disgusting green beans tasted like chocolate ice cream, he was more than ecstatic to make it happen. As long as the person on the other end of the illusions was pleased, he was satisfied.Future plots:Orion and @Maureen O'Dwyer were in a serious relationship but it didn't work out. Since she left him, he has been endlessly looking for her. Looking for his happiness. When he does come across her, he will use an old illusion she will be familiar with to get her attention so he can talk to her. More illusions may occur as they talk, but all to show chivalry and his true feelings for her, never out of ill-intent. He is an old school friend of @John Lennox and will meet up with him as he travels through England. He may use his ability to playfully deceive John in a game or some hand tricks as they converse. This is all for good laughs. If he is approved to be an illusionist, he may/will become a tutor to @Lorin Odell . RP sample using the feature: Two children. Both twins to one another. One a boy; the other a girl. He couldn't help but smile and gave a hardy, cheerful laugh at Maureen's goals as he wrapped an arm around her waist and pulled her closer to him on the couch. It was likely they could have twins. The gene was in Maurie's blood. "Twins would be nice. Then the two trouble makers could entertain each other while you took care of the house and I was at work." Twins sounded great! Orion had always wanted to be a father. He didn't care how many children he had, but if they had twins, their children would be friends to one another for a lifetime. Not only that, but he wouldn't just be a first-time father to one child, but two. The whole idea was exhilarating. "We may need to get a bigger house when they grow up, but for the time, we don't need to worry at that." He kissed the temple of her had when she gasped at what had suddenly appeared before them. The blond Irish man had always had great talents in casting illusions. Now, he used his illusions to portray two small children, a boy and a girl, about the age of four playing on the living room floor. The twinkle in his eyes shone brighter when he saw how happy the illusions made his girlfriend. "Our son would of course be first. His younger sister would need someone to fight of any boys who tried to make a move on her. He'd look just like his mother, with dark brown hair and green eyes, but he'd have his father's nose and charm." Maureen had given him a slight, playful nudge at his last comment. This only encouraged him to go on as his free hand took hers, intertwining their digits together. "Now, our daughter, she'll have the passion and zeal of her mother," As he began to describe what their future daughter would look like, his gaze was on the woman beside him. "but will look just like her father with blonde hair and grey/blue eyes that shine like the night sky." The children before them got up and began a game of tag, running around the couch of which Maurie and Rion and sat upon. Orion didn't watch the children, but rather the joyful expression the lady he held displayed. Her eyes wouldn't peel away from their "children". He was well aware of what they were doing, for he had created them. Now, the blond-haired man only wished he had mastered the illusion of touch so that they could hold the children and sit together as a big family. For now, they would have to watch and hear the playful laughs from the youngsters. Their daughter had tripped over a corner of the carpet and immediately began to cry. Her brother rushed to her side to make sure he was okay, just as how Orion planned to teach his son to treat the girls and women around him. When the two siblings hugged, they disappeared. Maureen's attention was then turned from her envisioned dream to him. The fact that the two could sit here side by side and talk about their future together sparked a passion within him. He had never doubted it before, but now was sure that he would ask the beautiful witch to be his wife and he would do it soon. He'd have enough money to do so and launch their dreams into action, making them goals.

Name: SophieCharacter name: Julianne Graves Feature you are applying for: The SightAs I was getting to know Annie, it felt like there was something about her that was still missing. Her childhood was rough and had a huge impact on who she has grown into, the good and the bad, but something still seemed to fall short. What was it that made Annie so afraid to let others in? What was it that she was trying to drown out with indifference and alcohol and fleeting experiences? As Ashton and I worked together on creating the Graves sisters, Annie began to fill out in my mind as a gifted diviner. However, the more I thought about her skills, personality, and future, it became clear that there was more to Annie's magic than that. Although she does not yet understand the extent of her abilities, learning to accept and control her Sight has been and will be a lifelong journey that makes her the person that she is and can someday grow to be.Those who aren't in the small group who truly know Annie well are likely to perceive her as materialistic and self-centered. Annie spends a great deal of time worrying about her appearance and reputation and she is known as one of the "popular girls", a title which earns her both respect and dislike from classmates. Annie is selective in who she chooses for her friends, and while not outright unkind to others, tends to be distant and cold to those who she doesn't trust. Quick to judge others as being uncool or boring, Annie offers little mercy for those who get on her bad side. She can be petty and vicious with her words and spends more time worrying about what people say about her than what she says about them in return. The face that she puts up to the school in general is perfectly made-up and distant, a skill that Annie has developed and mastered over her teenage years. Her secrecy developed after she started at Ilvermorny, when she realized that her background didn't earn her the admiration and social status that she sought. Annie is extremely reserved when it comes to personal issues, especially when it comes to her sister and their past. Concerned that people will think of her as weak or pitiable because of her upbringing makes Annie distance herself from the challenges she faced as a child and present the face of someone popular, collected, and in control. Although she tells herself she doesn't want to talk about her past, she often drops ambiguous hints about her insecurities when around close friends. If anyone questions her further, however, she rejects help and denies that she might need it at all.Annie has a tendency to assume that others are judging or attacking her when they get to know her well, and she is quick to become defensive when she feels threatened. Because she tends to be on the lookout for people and situations that can harm her, she sees danger more often than it is really there. Suspicious of the motives of others, Annie has learned to defend herself both verbally and magically in a fight. Annie is particularly sensitive to criticisms, both of her character and her abilities, and tends to respond with coldness and aloofness in an attempt to make her opponent feel small. If Annie feels rejected or criticized, she is quick to return the attitude, generally claiming that she wasn't interested in being friends in the first place.Growing up in strenuous circumstances has made Annie angry -- with the world, with humanity, and with herself. She holds the attitude that, in general, people are bad-natured and not much can be expected from them. Annie tends to look for the worst in others and in herself, and doesn't believe that she is a good person. As such, she doesn't have very high expectations of herself and doesn't make much of an effort to be kind or moral. In her eyes, the best approach to life is to get by with biting sarcasm, thick skin, and a shot glass. Although she is talented, interesting, and good-looking, Annie puts herself in situations that don't allow her to be her best self. She frequently lets other people down and assumes that they don't expect anything different from her.Despite her frequent assertions that pursuing anything lasting is pointless, Annie is in search of happiness and herself. She wants to be viewed as perfect and strong, but in reality, she is broken and still working through the anger she harbors against her parents and the world. Annie is well aware that the persona she puts on is not the real her, but she is unsure how else to approach life or to find where she belongs. Annie frequently contemplates her life and human nature, still secretly hopeful that she will find a sign that life isn't as miserable as she has come to expect it to be, or that she isn't as bad of a person as she might have once thought.Unfortunately, Annie is unwilling to accept aid from others in this personal quest. Annie is extremely independent and has always hated receiving help. Acknowledging that she is incapable of accomplishing something alone makes her feel weak. She often interprets offers for assistance as attacks on her ability or intelligence. As a young girl, Annie learned how to take care of herself and her sister and has developed into an incredibly gritty young woman. Some of her greatest strengths are in her resourcefulness and her ability to put on a brave and tough face in times of adversity. Annie has faith in herself when it comes to her ability to survive and take care of her sister, to whom she is always loyal. In her eyes, practicality and the desired result are more important than morals and later consequences. Because she tends to prioritize her own interests, she often comes across as self-centered and unsympathetic to others. In reality, Annie just knows that the silly problems other girls her age complain of are insignificant in the grand scheme of things.Living day-to-day as a child taught Annie to never count on the future and to always live in the moment. Though some people might view her way of life as frivolous and silly, Annie just knows that nothing lasts. When an opportunity for an experience comes, Annie will take it without worrying about the consequences if it will serve her in the moment. Ever cautious to become emotionally invested, Annie does her best not to get tied down by relationships or deep emotional connections. Instead, Annie seeks out experiences and sensations and has turned into something of an adrenaline junkie in recent years. Easily bored (and regularly complaining about it), Annie looks for chances to try new things and take risks. She loves the feeling of mastering something new or pulling off a dare and is always up for the next scheme. Annie hates to be limited by her age and spends a great deal of time trying to look and act older than she is; unfortunately, Annie's definition of being mature includes drinking, smoking, and staying up late rather than taking responsibility for her actions. In the end, those few friends who know her well see more than the aggressive, defensive, and shallow girl that she appears to be. Annie is intelligent and skilled, especially in divination, and has a unique and interesting viewpoint on the world. She is a talented singer and dancer, a caretaker, and a fiercely loyal friend. Annie is extremely protective of those she loves and will take risks and make sacrifices to come to a friend's aid when she sees that they are truly in need. Background and Description:As a child, Annie was frequently distressed, overwhelmed, and suffering. This tumultuous childhood, filled with concerns for her mother, sister, and self, left Annie little room to breathe. It was not until Annie was taken away from her mother and relocated to House Irons that Annie remembers first having a vision.Growing up in a home with a psychotic mother and a sister experiencing disturbing dreams, Annie believed herself to be going mad with the rest of them. Convinced that the hallucinations, as she felt them to be, meant she was as doomed as her mother, Annie did everything in her power to suppress and hide them. Her wish has always been to appear as normal as possible, and seeing things that no one else could was about as far-aligned from that goal as was possible to be. Annie was determined to maintain control over herself in order to look out for Alyson, and did everything in her power to suppress and ignore the occasional and brief bursts of images that weren't really there.Over the years, the visions have become harder to control. Once starting at Ilvermorny, Annie took to divination at once and began studying the subject in earnest. Although she did not connect the classroom study to her own natural abilities, the intentional relaxing and opening of her mind during class led to an increase in frequency of visions.Annie's precognitions always come to her visually. They appear on reflective surfaces and can sneak up on her - they flash by in the mirror, in a puddle, or in a reflection on a window pane. The visions are quick and rare, and usually only occur when she is relaxed, letting her mind wander, or intentionally attempting to see the future. Her method of choice is, fittingly, a crystal ball, but Annie also at time supplements her gazing with tarot cards or palm reading to help her understand the meaning of what she sees. Despite her fear of her hallucinations, Annie loves divination and feels comfortable in the classroom and with the subject. She is motivated by the ease with which it comes to her and by the hope that she might be able to help and understand her sister through study.Eventually, Annie will come to realize that the things she unintentionally and occasionally sees are not so much symptoms of madness but rather useful information about those she knows. Her growing obsession with her absentee father and family will help her visions to hone in on things that are of importance to her. Once she realizes that she might be able to control the gift, she will begin making more of an effort to have the visions come as well as go and will start to accept them as part of herself.Even so, the visions scared Annie as a child and still do because she doesn't fully understand and control them. They unnerve her, especially when they are unexpected. Annie has noticed that when she is stressed or drugged they happen less frequently, and she often times intentionally prevents herself from finding calm or solace because she knows it will get wrecked quickly by the visions.Personality and Fit:Annie is primarily interested in protecting her privacy. Secretive and defensive, Annie has a tendency to assume that others are a threat to her external image when they try to get to know her well. She tends to stay on the lookout for people and situations that can be a danger to her or her sister, and is particularly suspicious about the goals and motivations of those who she does not know well. Her awareness tends to extend beyond herself, constantly tuning into the minute changes in the behavior of others and looking for meaning in even the most apparently-insignificant details. She is sensitive and often resorts to self-destructive coping mechanisms to keep herself calm and level-headed. Annie is constantly putting out effort to remain unaffected by things out of her control, not wanting to deal with the intense emotions and cognitive experiences that she is faced with on a daily basis.Particularly sensitive to criticism of herself or her sister, Annie often responds with intense negative emotion to what she perceives as antagonism. She is angry, judgmental, and defensive toward others; this mental state emerged from the strenuous circumstances in which she was raised but has continued into her adolescence. This emotionality, in addition to her tendency to seek out intense experiences and sensations through the use of alcohol and recklessness, often gets in the way of Annie's sight. Annie has learned to intentionally drown out her visions and her emotions in this way, preferring to stay a bit numb to the world and give herself a sense of control, but this is an element of herself she must learn to control before she can advance as a Seer.Limitations:Although Annie's medium of sight is perhaps more common and pervasive than those of other Seers, her powers are also spread more thinly. Most of her visions are quick flashes rather than full-on scenes, and even the longer visions are always without audio. This can lead to errors in interpretation and important pieces of information never reaching Annie. She most commonly sees events that are in the near future rather than those that are distantly approaching, and anything she sees that is farther out is often hazy, undefined, and more shifting.Annie has trouble remaining focused long enough to recall and understand the things she sees; this will remain true even once she beings to recognize that the experiences are truly the Sight and makes an effort to understand them. It is more common for Annie to experience something in her day-to-day life and have a sudden sense of déjà vu because she saw something related to the event. It is uncommon for Annie to be able to distinguish between what she knows and what she has seen will come. The visions themselves tend to tire Annie both physically and emotionally. She is not currently aware of what they are, especially those that come and disappear quickly, and tends to view them more as hallucinations and signs that she is losing her mind rather than as occasionally-useful visions. After experiencing a minor vision, Annie may feel faint or disoriented; a lengthier experience may make her lose consciousness or fall ill. The negative aspects of the Sight, along with her fear and anger toward it, have in the past led Annie to do whatever she can to limit her visions. She often turns to dangerous experiences, self-medication, or forced suppression to try to limit the experiences and keep herself sane. These choices often put Annie at risk of other dangers, even when keeping the flashes of the future away.Alyson Graves:Although gifted with a form of the Sight herself, Annie's younger sister Aly has a very different relationship with her ability. While Annie prefers to largely ignore her gift and work to keep it suppressed and private, Aly is more comfortable advertising her ability and sharing her skills with others. While Annie encourages Aly to fight against her visions to protect herself, Annie will simultaneously be working to strengthen her own in order to find their father. Their differences in views about how the Sight should be used and who should know about it will lead to conflict and stress between the sisters, but in the end the pair is there for one another to be supportive as they both learn who they are and work to gain control of their abilities.Caroline Marshall:Carrie and Annie have been roommates since she moved into House Irons, continuing to live together year-round even when they started school, as they were sorted into the same house at Ilvermorny. Although the pair have historically never been especially close, Carrie is one of the few people that Annie trusts, particularly because she knows the girl has gone through her own share of hardships. The girls have in common a lack of knowledge about their parents, and are both on a search to learn more about why they left and who they are. Once Annie begins her search in earnest, she will team up with Carrie to track down the ghosts of their pasts. Annie will use her divining to try to understand what the future might have in store for her father and Carrie's birth parents, while Carrie will contribute to the search with her academic abilities and research skills. Carrie, aside from Aly, is the only individual Annie will willingly let in on the secret of the extent of her skills in divination.Mary Lou Bird:Carrie and Annie's search will attract the attention of their friend Mary Lou. A rather inquisitive girl, Mary Lou will make efforts to investigate the increasingly frequent secret meetings of her friends and participate in their search. Annie will not be interested in the help and highly defensive of the nature of her abilities and their goal, not wanting news to get around about what she is doing and how she is doing it. Mary Lou's persistence will test Annie's control of her abilities and her determination to keep her Sight a secret.Christian Grier:Aly's older and dangerous boyfriend is of little significance to Annie at first, but in her search for her father she will begin to suspect Christian's past and uncover his role as her father's mentee. She will begin to see that Christian is more dangerous than he seemed and will try to investigate him as well as her own father. Annie's complicated desire to keep the truth of their father from her younger sister will be at odds with her fears about Christian's nature and past. Annie will be challenged by her knowledge and the limited ways in which she can implement it. Her desire to hide her abilities will be at odds with her need to use the things she learns, and the truths she finds about Christian will test her most of all.Cathleen Neeley:As Annie begins to hone her divining skills to learn more about others, she will begin to see flashes of other individuals in her life who are important to her. One such person is her best friend, Cathy. The first flashes of scenes that break over her concerning Cathy will also be the first that concern herself. Annie will find these visions particularly confusing and alarming, and the idea of seeing her own future will unnerve her. Annie will struggle to control her visions, to fight the temptation to intentionally look into her own future, and to navigate the awkward glimpses into her changing relationship with her best friend.Melanie Moraes:Annie is frequently surprised by and unable to control her visions. While most of them are fleeting enough that she does little more than black out for a moment or lose her balance, the occasional vision will completely overwhelm her senses and leave her weak, ill, and shaken. Annie will be overpowered by one such vision concerning her father while (she thinks she is) alone in a bathroom. The sole witness will be Melanie, and Annie's secret will be at greater risk than it ever has been before. As Mellie will struggle to understand what she has seen, Annie will fight to keep Mellie quiet and will go to further lengths than ever before to keep her abilities private. As big as New York was, it seemed at times inexplicably small. Annie was crammed into a changing room in a muggle shop in Brooklyn, trying on a black leather dress that she could never afford. The five-hour train ride from Boston early in the morning had passed quickly, Annie's head resting on Cathy's shoulder as she dazed in and out of dreams. There were parts of the borough that Annie knew well -- that she would probably never be able to erase from her memory -- but she'd had no desire to take her best friend there. No, they were to spend the day sipping coffee and trying on clothes and going to rated-R films and conning their way into bars.Annie pulled up hard on the tight leather fabric, trying to find just the right amount of coverage on either end. She turned sideways to look in the mirror at another angle, and snorted. She could imagine what Sampson would say if she tried to pull this off as a part of the all-black dress code they maintained on holidays. But the only people who would have the opportunity to see her dressed up like this were patrons of the establishments she and Cathy would be frequenting that evening."I think I need boots," she called out, trusting her friend would hear her over the stall wall. Annie leaned in toward the mirror and carefully ran her fingernail along the edge of the dark lines she had drawn beneath her eyelids, removing the tiny smudge that was impeding the perfect symmetry she had spent twenty minutes fixing in the train station bathroom. "Does yours fit?"Annie propped the door of her room open with one bare foot for Cathy to grab, still leaning in to the mirror and now reapplying her lipstick. She saw Cathy come around the dividing wall and stood up to make room.As her friend slipped in the door, an odd feeling rushed through Annie. The girl in the reflection was familiar, of course - her best friend, the girl she had spent every possible minute with over the past year - but it was more than that. Annie blinked, trying to figure out what was so reminiscent about the red cocktail dress that so complimented Cathy's frame.--When Aly woke in the night screaming, Annie was hardly phased anymore. Though the two did not officially share a room at school or during the holidays, Annie took whatever chance she got to sneak under the covers with her younger sister and sleep close together on a too-small mattress like they had done as children. The staff at House Irons might have thought the sisters were too dependent on one another, that spending some time apart would help them grow, but Annie knew better. Her sister needed her, and she was damned if she was going to let Alyson wake from a nightmare in a cold sweat alone. Annie might not be able to keep the dreams at bay, but she was there to make sure Alyson's moments awake were as peaceful as possible.Although Alyson had fallen back asleep nearly an hour ago, Annie was still lying on her back with her eyes open, staring at the ceiling as she gently stroked her sister's hair. Snow was falling outside and just enough moonlight reflected off the wintery blanket to make the features of the room visible. All was calm. Her sister's breathing deep and slow, Annie delicately extracted her arm from around Aly, removed her legs from the tangled and heavy blankets, and touched her toes to the cold floor. She moved gracefully across the room, barely making a sound. It was only the first night of Christmas break, but the layout was familiar and Annie navigated the room with ease. A jug of water and clear glass that stood on a cluttered table by the window were her goal. For a moment, she was paralyzed. Her hand had wrapped around the jug and half lifted it to pour when the world around her seemed to slow. Leaned slightly over the sill to ensure she didn't spill, Annie had glanced down and seen not the clear water she had been expecting but a wild rush of colors and movement. It was only the thought of her sister that prevented her crying out as the foreign images flashed over the surface. She wanted desperately to shut her eyes, to block out the alien sensations that were running through her veins, but before she could begin to summon the will the vision had passed. The pounding in her chest wasn't just the shock or the fear of disturbing her sister; it was a different but familiar and uncomfortably-pleasant rush of adrenaline. Chills ran up and down her arms, and Annie shivered violently, clutching the water jug tightly while she desperately tried not to drop it with her suddenly weak arm. The flash of blonde hair and bright red dress had disappeared almost instantly, but the colors were still burning in her eyes against the darkness of the bedroom. The abrupt wave of warmth that seemed to come from within her was shocking in comparison to the cold air that leaked through the bedroom window.--Yes, the dress was oddly familiar. "Did you try that on at that store earlier?" Annie asked, turning around to look at Cathy full-on rather than in the reflection. "Or does Val have that dress? I feel like I've seen it before." She cocked her head thoughtfully, trying to put her finger on it. All she knew was that there was something nostalgic about the dress; it placed an inexplicable longing in her heart that made her ache for something she had done or seen that was forgotten, something that filled her stomach with butterflies."Weird."Annie turned back around, bringing her hand back up to finish her reapplication of the bright red lip color.

[div style="width: 900px; text-align: justify; font-size:11px; color:#a09468"]Name: MickieCharacter Name: Soo-jin HwangFeature you are applying for: Precognitive Seer (Dream Clairvoyance)Description of the character: Personality: Guarded, Soo-jin will never immediately show her inner fears. She likes to portray herself as the picture of academic perfection, a model student involved in numerous clubs and associations with the confidence of a goddess. She presents a hardened exterior and is quick to point out the flaws in others. In truth, while Soo-jin believes in her abilities and capabilities and thinks she is talented enough to eventually gain a high position in society (Minister for Magic is the end goal), deep down she is sensitive and afraid of being different. She's made her future her sole focus and she pushes away other people as a result. Soo-jin is a blunt girl and tries to seem more logical than emotive, but truly she is an emotional being and this is seen specifically in the way she releases anger; many might see her as a bit of a hothead as she is quicker to yell and lash out than she is to simply say how she feels. A lot of Soo-jin's inner feelings come out in bursts because she is prone to bottling her deeper feelings up, not wanting to appear vulnerable or weak. Still, she is strong and a trooper through and through. Why it works: Soo-jin presents this hardened, realistic, ambitious version of herself that, while true, is not the full picture. While this seem to contradict her abilities, as someone who is deeply quietly emotional and intuitive, she actually makes a decent candidate for clairvoyance. If approved, her ability will tap into her potential to be a more open person and while it won't completely change her from the guarded, blunt girl that she is, it will eventually reveal parts of her that she's previously done her best to hide. More on why this feature works will be touched on in the application section. Background: When I first came up with this character, I knew right away that I wanted her to have this jarring secret that she held from the world and that kept her closed off from others. It would play a big role in her personality and act as the biggest explanation for her close-mindedness and aggressiveness (because she's projecting her own internalized shame onto others who are also different). Despite knowing this, however, I couldn't pinpoint exactly what I wanted her secret to be and that delayed her creation because I needed the secret to be appropriate and fitting for this character. Initially, I toyed with the idea of making her a werewolf. I'd always wanted to try my hand at the werewolf feature and I figured that it would add a lot of dimensions. She'd probably still be coping with the trauma of the attack; werewolves are rejected by the public and with her ambitions it would be a huge secret that would hold her back; and because of her hot temper, she'd run the risk of attacking someone else, which would've been her biggest fear. However, the more I thought about it, the less it seemed to fit. On the surface level, it was perfect, but as I pondered Soo-jin's future, I realized that my ideas for the werewolf trait and my ideas for an adult Soo-jin didn't match up. Ultimately, while I can't control whether Soo-jin gets some of the positions she'd like, I do see her pursuing her goals in spite of her secret and being surprised when said secret sometimes becomes an aid. Also, with her personality, I know Soo-jin wouldn't be able to comfortably pursue a high spot in the Ministry unless she was rid of her lycanthropy because lycanthropy, to her, would always be a hindrance. It wasn't something I could see her eventually becoming accepting of and so it no longer worked. Process & Limitations: I left her alone for a few days after this disappointing conclusion. In spite of all my muse, I knew I couldn't begin writing her sheet until I came up with the right secret that fuelled her volatile personality but also matched up with the future I'd planned for her. I thought about a lot of different things. Although my first thought was to give her lycanthropy, I knew that the secret did not necessarily have to be a special feature. I considered giving her a secret potions addiction or a magical illness but neither of those worked either -- she would never rely on potions because of the risks, and an ailment wouldn't be as easy to conceal. Then, one day I was going through old notes for characters and ideas that never left the drawing board and I came across notes I'd written for a seer character. One of my drafts for this seer was actually a young male who had difficulties interacting with others due to his Sight; it made him uncomfortable that he could view some people's futures and, not wanting to be perceived as different and made into an outcast, he was unaccepting of his own ability. After reading this, Soo-Jin popped into my head and I instantly began to apply the Sight to her character to see if it worked the way I wanted it to.Everyone and their grandmother knows that I've always wanted a seer, and after lycanthropy did not fall through, I did my best to make sure that clairvoyance was not another surface-level thing that I was trying to force based on sheer desire. I put days of thought into it and became hesitant because while it seemed to work on the deeper level that I wanted, I knew that on the surface Soo-jin didn't seem to possess the typical demeanour associated with seers; by choice, she's not empathetic, soft, or even all that eccentric or superstitious, and I knew that I did not want to change her to accommodate her secret. The secret needed to fit her, not the other way around. However, I gave it more thought and decided that I liked the contrast between her traits and the traits typically associated with clairvoyance. And, despite her not actively displaying characteristics like empathy and openness right now, Soo-jin has the potential to show these traits - her having this feature could tap into this potential; it could help her grow. Furthermore I viewed her slightly incompatible personality as just another obstacle and limitation for this feature; her constantly being worked up about school and refusing to relate and empathise with others makes her visions more infrequent and exhausting. These revelations only solidified her status as a seer to me and I was certain that it wasn't going away - that it was indeed the best fit for Soo-Jin.Because this is a secret that she's been hiding for years, I needed to make sure that she could actually keep it hidden. Every other idea I had came with a limit to its privacy but this one. As a dream clairvoyant who shares a dorm room with other females, whenever she experiences a violent vision she can simply disguise it as a bad dream if anyone were to question her. Her visions aren't all that frequent, either, making it less suspicious and less noticeable. She originally got the bad dream idea from her parents who are extremely cynical about her clairvoyance and dismissed it all the time when she was younger, redirecting her focus to her studies whenever she brought the ability up. This constant dismissal is a huge reason behind why she is so ashamed of her ability today. Unbeknownst to her, however, her ability is genetic with a great-great grandmother (named Lee Kyung-Ja) exhibiting clairvoyant and prophetic skills. She was excellent at scrying and though Soo-Jin never knew her, she's heard her father make a snide remark about her before. As an overachiever who aims to do well in all of her classes, she also has a high proficiency in Scrying, Onmyodo, and Cosmology and taking these classes have enhanced her clairvoyance. Mainly, they have enhanced the clarity of her visions. Up until earlier this year, Soo-jin only got glimpses of the future as passing images, short phrases, and maybe an odd feeling. Now, her visions are a much more sensory experience and though infrequent, when she does see something, it's not quite as fleeting and indecipherable as before. Sometimes she gets two random scenes, or a face and a sudden emotion. These new crisper visions exhaust her incredibly and she experiences cold sweats, headaches, and lack of sleep for the remainder of the night. The experience of these visions are always incredibly draining both physically and emotionally. Conclusion: This is a feature that will undoubtedly be a part of all of her threads, even if it's not directly mentioned. If approved, her clairvoyance will play a key role in the type of person she is today, and a lot of her actions towards other people will be influenced by the inner turmoil she faces by having this ability she neither enjoys nor wants. It makes her different from other people and Soo-jin doesn't want to be different -- she just wants to be the best. Her internalized self-shame makes her harsh towards others who do not fit her standards and she hates people who manage to take pride in their differences because of jealousy. At the moment, she scarcely feels moved to decipher what her visions mean, but as time moves forward I plan to put her through different experiences that will increase her own interest in her abilities and make her consider honing them more. As previously stated, I think this feature will provide a lot of potential for character growth because it is something she could eventually grow to at least accept, if not love. Song Eun-soo: Soo-Jin has a longstanding rivalry with Taylor's Eun-soo Song that has no chances of changing any time soon. The two girls compete in and outside of classes, and will eventually compete for the affection of different boys. Eun-soo has a secret talent for singing that Soo-Jin will eventually discover in a vision and confront her about in the hopes of having information to hold over Eun-soo's head. This will lead to escalated tension between the girls, who are already secretly jealous of each other. Yi Zhong Liu: Zhong Liu is, without a doubt, Soo-jin's closest friend and their friendship is her longest at Mahoutokoro. Sophie and I have plotted that Zhong Liu will be the first person who Soo-jin willingly confides in about her secret. As they are so close, she'll be hoping for a good response that will make her more comfortable with herself. However, Zhong Liu is confused and put off by things not within his control and will initially have a negative reception of Soo-jin's secret. This is likely to lead to many other threads between the pair as they figure out how to interact with each other after this new gap is placed between them. Akiyama Ren: Another character that Soo-jin will have a plot with is Ren Akiyama. The pair of them were once rivals, but as their ambitions lie in two different fields, their rivalry has cooled off and turned into a decent friendship. Dylan has kindly offered to have Soo-Jin discover Ren's closeted homosexuality via a vision, and through this she will also learn of Ren's involvement with someone he once considered an enemy. Soo-jin will not know what to do with this information, but it's likely her interactions with Ren will start to change based on her knowing this big secret. It will also make her reevaluate herself since she is also hiding something. Hanaoka Tsubaki: Like Soo-jin, Tsubaki is hiding a lot of who she really is beneath a surface. However, Tsubaki, who is the effervescence of ladylike, polite, and kind truly does not like most people. She hides her real feelings and instead shows this facade. Mimi and I have planned for Soo-Jin to experience a quick fleeting vision of Tsubaki and have these intense feelings of anger, hinting towards Tsubaki's real feelings towards everyone. After this vision, Soo-Jin will become snippier with Tsubaki, and there will be an eventual confrontation as she tries to push Tsubaki to show how she really feels. Arden Dasher: During Dash's travels, she will come across Soo-jin in Takamagahara after envisioning the younger girl experiencing a vision and learning of her abilities. While Soo-jin will initially be startled by the revelation that there are others out there like her who are willing to help her, this first meeting will start to plant a seed of curiosity in her. Alyson Graves: Ash and I have talked about Alyson possibly encountering Soo-jin during one of her travels with Christian. They will interact and Soo-jin will be shocked to encounter yet another person with the Sight. Her chance meetings with Dash and Alyson will be the beginnings of a shift in her perspective on her abilities, and later on she will start to become more interested in what she can do. General: As more students, faculty, and other characters pop up, so will more plot opportunities for Soo-jin. If approved, her ability will give her the chance to have many other plots. I have many more ideas for her, such as: having a vision about someone that she doesn't interfere with, only to regret it in the future; actually interfering in a situation that she's envisioned; having a vision that allows her to unfairly gain the upperhand in a situation; and envisioning the demise of a stranger. I've also spoken to Inga about figuring something out between Soo-jin and her seer, Segolene, in the future too. This house was old and not well cared for. She could see it in the cobwebs that littered the corners, hear it in the creaking of the floor's loose panels, and feel it in the air, chilled by a wind that flew through shattered windows and torn curtains to graze her exposed skin. Soo-jin crossed her arms tightly and hunched her shoulders in an attempt to find warmth, but it seemed lost in this place. There was a sharp frigid tension that twisted her insides and made her quiver. She took a few steps forward, the thick black heels of her shoes echoing as they clacked across the hardwood floors. As she walked through the dark corridors of the manor, she was filled with a sudden sense of dread. The feeling hit her like a truck, quick and painfully. There was a flash of red light, bright and hot, and then her vision was blurry. She could tell that the scenery around her was changing, but the transformation was difficult to make out. Her once clear view was now a faded image, but the frightful anticipation that had previously crept on her remained like a shadow. She tried to move a hand forward but her body was rigid. A tingling sensation juddered across her skin, then she was struck with immense pain. A shriek tore through her lips and echoed in the air before everything went dark..Soo-jin awoke with a start, abruptly rising up into a sitting position, her sweat-dampened hair sticking to her forehead and temples. Tired, ragged breaths dragged themselves between her lips. The emotions that had been dragged to the surface in her dream still lingered, making her paranoid, and she made an attempt to calm herself by internally repeating that it was all fake. The mantra was one she commonly practiced whenever she found herself having to recover from the shock of a particularly alarming dream. She loathed giving more attention to her dreams than necessary, especially when she could barely determine if they held any meaning. They were just bothersome.Soo-jin sat there for a moment, her chest rising and falling with every respective inhalation and exhalation, a rapid sporadic pattern. When she felt more at ease, her gaze rose to the ceiling, then moved to the window. It was dark out which meant that the sun was still sleeping soundly, and that she'd once again woken up in the middle of the night. Dark eyes inspected each sleeping form that surrounded her to ensure that they hadn't stirred. Taking note of the steady rise and fall beneath sheets and the sound of soft snoring, Soo-jin felt relieved; she hadn't betrayed herself and shrieked aloud in her panic.Palms on either side of her, she attempted to push herself up, about to rise, when she realised that she was gripping the sheets, fingers twisted in the silk. Her body trembled because of the motion, and she tried to steady herself and her breathing. She was thirsty. Her dry throat ached and her head throbbed. Awareness of just how bad she really felt was suddenly vivid and unmistakable. Her brain was catching up to the present and her pain and tiredness was finally registering. There was no doubt in her mind now that her dream hadn't been a normal one. Visions came infrequently these days, but when they arrived, they struck like thunder and lightning. Her forehead wrinkled as a frown pulled down the corners of her mouth.Releasing the sheets she clung to, Soo-jin tucked away limp strands of hair that had escaped from her ponytail while she slept. A low groan escaped her mouth as she forced herself up, joints creaking in protest. She would never grow used to the exhaustion and pain that came along with vivid dreams like that one. Quietly, she slipped on her red bedroom slippers and retreated from the dorm and into the empty common room. She retrieved a cup and got some water, then settled into a plush couch, legs tucked underneath her. Soo-jin peered into the darkness for a long time before she heard the quiet squeaking of a door opening.Ah, so she had caused someone to stir. It wasn't the first time this had happened. Perhaps she'd been making noises in her sleep. The girl sighed in annoyance. Without even turning to see who had joined her, she spoke harshly, "It was just a nightmare. Mind your business and go to sleep."
